api GmbH has successfully implemented the next major step in terms of sustainability and climate protection. After equipping our logistics with volume reducers to optimize the cartons and replacing plastic fillers with paper, the newly installed photovoltaic system has now been put into operation. With it, api is completely independent of the public power grid on days with corresponding solar radiation.
It is extremely important for api to take responsibility for our environment to the greatest extent possible as part of our business activities. This is already evident in modern logistics, which has been sending ordered goods in optimized packaging units for several years with the usual high availability and delivery speed. Additionally, our fleet has almost been completely converted to electric cars.
This next milestone now aims to reduce our dependence on the public power grid as much as possible, and to make us self-sufficient under the right external conditions. The newly installed photovoltaic system is designed to provide power for the entire operation on sunny days. A total of 2,080 solar modules, each with 420 watts, were installed, resulting in a total output of 873,600 watts peak (873.6 kWp).
The benefits of this investment are far-reaching – not just for api itself, but also for our environment. While api is highly independent of fluctuating electricity prices or supply shortages and saves significant energy costs in the long term, the use of renewable energy makes an active contribution to climate protection and significantly reduces our CO₂ footprint. As a large IT company, we also see ourselves as having a social responsibility to set an example within our means and to demonstrate environmental awareness for both the industry and our region. Certainly, investing in modern sustainable technologies is also a key factor in the future viability of our company.
